have done just fine over the last year. Mid-range chips are all over the board (some up, some down, some way down) and common chips have probably dropped in value, but not significantly.

I would say that buying most chips for investment is probably somewhat dicey. Any expensive chips can be undermined by finds and unknown hoards coming onto the market. I just collect them because I really enjoy it! I have read it many times on this board: Collect what you love and you will never regret it.
