I would guess that way back when (I think the white cover dates from the 40's) that the business whom orders the matchbook would submit thier own artwork if they had it, as many business still do today. So they, the matchbook maker would produce it as is. That art then becomes stock imagery for later orders. Cover #3 is a salesmans sample flat, then 4 and 5 have different manumarks and finally #6 is a complete revamp of the original with a much sharper drawing in the correct position as well as the addition of "Old" and "Saloon" on the front.
