Capone & St. Louis Dutch: CLUB MAGAZINE
In Response To: Ditto, JB ... ()

When I first bought the Floridian "50" Casino chips
from AA, I searced high and low for whatever
information I could find and also gave that info to
AA while not hiding anything from the person I was
buying from. Two very interesting articles from the
1960s describe one walking up the steps to the
casino and mention two of the owners: Bert Moss and
Arthur Childers (and besides Capone; a
partner of Capone in the Floridian at the time -- "St. Louis Dutch").

Anybody have additional info on Dutch; gambling
related?

In Volume 7, #4 (Fall Issue, 1994) of our magazine,
you'll read some of the facts about the club along
with seeing two magazine ads; one depicting
headliner Ted Lewis.

The articles mention Jack Benny, Sophie Tucker,
Eddie Cantor and a young dancer at the time known as
Caesar Romero.

What many people fail to realize or mention whie
attributing Chicago clubs to Capone, that Capone was
away at camp for most of the 1930s. He returned to
his Miami Beach home in 1939 (still standing) with
the mind of a 12-year-old suffering from syphilis of
the brain.

There are Capone sites which document his physical
and mental destruction during his last eight years
on The Beach.

Additional photos of the known Floridian chips are depicted in "A Guide To Florida's Gaming Chips, Checks & Tokens.
