You might try a contact Cement. Smoothly apply to both surfaces and let dry. Then when you put the inlays back in they will stick when they touch. The reason I mention this as I think you can get a thinner and smoother bond with contact cement. You might want to try test runs on somethin else first though as once the cement contacts itself that is it.
