Not my year for computers...
I went on vacation for a few days 3 months ago and when I got back one of my desktop computers didn't work at all. Since it was an E machines model I had heard that when the power supply fails it takes out the motherboard. So instead of fiddling with a 5 year old computer I just got a new one. My 2 year old laptop has been acting up lately - IE Explorer just would not work properly some days and I would have to reboot to get it back. Yesterday I was reading the board when a message popped up saying that an imminent hard drive failure was gonna happen. Of course I ignored the message but I had to reboot it and guess what? Of course the hard drive failed and it would not even start up. I ran the hard drive test and it has died completely. Question is that when I put in the new HD how do I get my Windows Vista back? The machine didn't come with any DVD's but I did make a set of restore discs when it was new. Will Vista be on those discs and how do I get them to run if the machine does not start up? Are they boot discs?
