These medallions were made for the Hard Rock Cafe before the hotel opened. There were 6,000 of EACH color ordered. For some reason the whites are plentiful but the reds and blacks are harder to come by. Also, the whites are in the best shape and the blacks are in the worse.
Many were returned to Gift Creations in Chatsworth, California after problems of medallions falling out of the bezel. They were used as bolo ties and money clips. Having spoken to Jerry, President of Gift Creations, a number of these were returned because of glue and because of workmanship. But I can't tell that they're rejects. I can account for over 100 in this latest transaction, but there's no telling if there are more.
A few were available at Pindex, some as bolo ties and others glued to granite. A few people have had strays along the way but this is the first time a number have come out at once.
As someone mentioned to me at Pindex, the trademark is so strong that you could take a ##### and stamp "Hard Rock" on it and it would sell.
