Pete.
A lot of American Legion posts in the Southern Ohio and Northern KY area had gambling. No way to tell which post your dice came from. I have shot dice in the Park Hills, Ky post.
AmVets posts in the area were chartered for the express purpose of masking gaming operations, such as The Bond Hill Vets. They had an hourglass chip with BHV on it. I am looking for one if anyone has one.
The 40-8 dice would have been used at a organization called 40-8. It was similar to the VFW with posts all over the country. Very well could have been a post in the area. It was for veterans of WW 1. The 40 -8 stood for the French railroad cars that held 40 men or 8 mules. Most of this information came through John B. I have 40-8 chips in 3 different molds.
BTW, at one time I sold beauty supplies in the Ironton area.
