As I recall, these chips were a gift to Greg, as a Thank You for his contributions to the Hobby in the form of TheChipBoard and his websites! Greg handed out the chips and the one I have (as part of the tribute animation below) was one of the many he handed out during the Convention that year.
As many of you know, Greg had a web-cam table at the Conventions and it kind of became a home-base for him during the bourse floor hours and he would store stuff under the table. As the Exhibitor of the non-Competitive OTY displays and helper to my son Casey, the Exhibits Chairman, I too would campout with Greg at that table and keep the OTY display packing material and whatnot under the table there.
At the end of the Convention, Greg would finalize the web-cam transmission with a last picture, which would remain in memory for weeks until after the Convention. He would do this just after the close of the bourse floor on Saturday and since I was then packing the OTY Exhibit and helping Casey with other Exhibit matters, I was often there for the final picture, which explains why I was in the final picture for several years. Afterwards, Greg would pack-up his laptop, grab his under-the-table stuff and head off for dinner and the Last Dance, etc.
This particular year, he overlooked a box of these chips (leaving them under the table) and before I left I took them for safe keeping. I thought I would run into Greg before he left town, but that year our 'after Convention' schedules did not cross, so I hung on to the box of chips. It wasn't until the following Convention that I was able to return them to him.
Certainly not a big deal, but definately a good memory for me of our friend Greg Susong!
