What they don't understand is
that the $100 live chips and 20 NCV chips is a better deal for the customer (unless the customer is a chip collector who has no intention of playing the chips).
I'm no math wiz, but I'm often amazed at the number of promotions around town, many short lived for good reason,that make NO sense from a pure numbers point of view. One that stands out although I don't remember the exact figures was the one at the Casuarina where you paid something like $40 and got $120 in slot play. Word spread and the lines wove around the casino and out the door before they cancelled the promotion.
