THOUGHT I'D SHARE MY EXPERIENCE, AND THE REASON FOR FEELING 41yrs. STUPID! WHEN I SEND OUT PAYMENT TO SELLERS FOR CHIPS THAT I HAVE PURCHASED ON EBAY, MANY TIMES I WAIT TILL I GET TO THE POST OFFICE TO PURCHASE THE NUMBER OF STAMPED ENVELOPES I NEED, THEN ADDRESS AND STUFF THE ENVELOPE WHILE THERE. I CAN'T SAY EXACTLY HOW MANY TIMES, BUT ALMOST ALWAYS, I'LL GRAB A FEW OF THE 3X5, GREEN CARDS, USED FOR "RETURN RECIEPT REQUEST", JUST TO WRITE A NOTE ON, AND ENCLOSE IT WITH MY PAYMENT. I NEVER BOTHERED TO LOOK AT JUST WHAT THAT GREEN CARD WAS "SUPPOSED" TO BE USED FOR. I KNOW NOW!!
AS USUAL, I HAD ENCLOSED ONE OF THE CARDS WHEN SENDING OFF A M.O. TO A SELLER OF A COMMON $2.50 CHIP I NEEDED. YESTERDAY, I RECIEVED A CARD FROM MY POSTAL CARRIER, STATING THAT THERE WAS A PKG. AT THE POST OFFICE FOR ME WHICH REQUIRED MY SIGNATURE. "NOT GOOD", I THOUGHT TO MYSELF, AS MOST OF THE MAIL I'VE EVER HAD TO SIGN FOR HAS BEEN FROM AN UNFRIENDLY ATTORNEY<G>. I WENT TO THE POST OFFICE THIS MORNING TO FIND THAT THE PACKAGE WAS FROM THE SELLER OF THE CHIP I HAD PURCHASED AND NOT ONLY DID IT REQUIRE MY SIGNATURE TO PICK IT UP, BUT, "I" HAD TO PAY $1.40 IN POSTAGE FOR THE DELIVERY RECIEPT NOTICE, AS IT HAD NOT BEEN PAID BY THE SENDER!! I WASN'T HAPPY. I QUICKLY RETURNED HOME TO SEND A TERSE, IF NOT SARCASTIC, EMAIL TO THE SENDER, INQUIRING AS TO WHAT REASON THEY HAD FOR SUCH ACTION. WELL, NEEDLESS TO SAY, I FELT PRETTY STUPID AND QUITE APOLOGETIC WHEN THE SELLER INFORMED ME THAT SINCE I HAD ENCLOSED THE CARD, SHE THOUGHT I HAD WANTED THE CARD USED FOR IT'S INTENDED PURPOSE. IF ANYONE IN THIS SENARIO SHOULD BE CONSIDERED "DENSE", IT'S ME, FOR HAVING USED A POSTAL DOCUMENT FOR A PIECE OF SCRATCH PAPER. YA'LL BE CAREFUL WITH THOSE GREEN CARDS <G>
