In most cases the The Official U.S. Casino Chip Price Guide list current house chips prices like this:
$1 new - $3 (300% of face)
$5 new - $7 or $8 (140-160% of face)
$25 new - $30 (125% of face)
$100 new - $110 (%110% of face)
This implies that if I harvest a brand new $5 chip from a casino it's only "worth" two new $1 chips in trade // a new $25 = ten $1. Given that all of these chips are current issue why isn't a new $25 chip worth twenty-five current $1 chips? And if I have an OBS $1 chip valued at $30 it too is worth ten current $1 chips?
Also, ignoring shipping charges, within the chipping community is there a price difference between buying a chip versus trading for a chip? From personal experience with other collectables (baseball cards, comics) when dealing with a vendor you get more in trade than if you sell to him/her.
Any help is greatly appreciated. If I have made any offensive trade offers based on the assumption that current $1 chips are worth face value I sincerely apologize.
As always thank you.
