This reminds me of a conversation I had with my 15 year old Grand daughter a rew weeks ago. We were talking about cell phones and I asked her, "Did I tell you abut the tIme I saved a guys life with my phone?" She hadn't so I started in. It was the middle of the night in a remote part of Idaho. I was riding in the passenger seat and we were going to stop in few minutes for a break and diver change when we felt a tremendous impact at the rear of our 80,000 lb 18 wheeler. We stopped and after some minutes searching finally found a wrecked taurus a few hundred feet away. When I was a boy scout our troop leader was a GP and surgeon and drilled us relentlessly on first aid. I felt I knew what to do as I approached the car but was relieved when the driver brought up his hand and rubbed his head. At least He was alive and still had his head attached. Poor guy hadn't worn a seatbelt and his head wwent through the windshield and then back inside. Very grisly injuries but with my training I knew there was no first aid to be rendered so tht settled me down a lot. Called the 911 person and was able to give pertinent info for location, injury and any extrication equip. Rescue arrived and he made the hospital with bruisd heart and lungs where he died twice on the table they said.
So I told my grand kid, Sometimes someone has to be in charge and do something and sometimes it going to have to be you...don't be afraid because you can do more thatn you think you can and besides wouldn't you want someone to do it for you?

Well now I know the next time I'm in that situation, I can do it. Didn't really do that much, just kept a clear head. Believe me doing that sounds simple but you bring peace to everyone else too by stepping up. Pretty good payback to my scout leader for all the time he devoted to us silly scouts.
So yeah, hit the brakes, get out and dive in and help. You may show how to the guy that is going to help you tomorrow!
