My personal family doctor took an early retirement in December of last year and closed his general practice office. He saw the writing on the wall, and sent letters to each of his patients 6 months before the presidential election. What loomed in the future under an Obama presidency was too onerous for him to accept. The hoops he was jumping through to deal with Medicade and Medicare were already a burden he hated dealing with. Obamacare will only make it worse. He knew that, and I understood his reasons for his actions. I lost a physician who got to know me and my medical needs on a personal level over a 25 year time frame. Obama, and his heathcare plans, personally affected me before the man took office.
I think you'd find that a majority 17% of all licensed physicians in the USA that are members of the AMA are in administrative positions and not actually practicing medicine on an individual and personal basis. I don't see that as being much different from politicians in Washington. They are all out of touch with the people they are working for.
