A couple days ago, TheChipBoard had gone down for a bit. I called the company doing the hosting for us and they rebooted the server. Once the server was brought back up, the date was off again. They told me that they couldn't really talk to me about these types of problems and that Carol needed to call them.
Due to the recent uptick in outages and date issues, I had asked Carol if she would call the company to see if she could get some assistance for us. Carol spent the evening calling on our behalf to get someone to look into these issues. I believe yesterday morning they looked into the date problem and they fixed that up for us. Unfortunately the date is messed up again.
As I've state before, it doesn't really bother me if the date is an hour or two different than my timezone. The real problem is the fact the server is changing dates on us which causes messages to appear as if they are gone (when in fact they are still there).
She also was able to get David Spragg and myself approved to call on the account for technical issues. So as of yesterday, David and I are both approved to call in for tech support.
Getting us approved to call in for technical issues is the first step in us being able to address some of these problems. We still don't have any access to the actual data files on the server yet. Now since David and/or I can contact the company directly, we will be trying to get access into those folders today.
The only files we do have access to is the Club's message board files on Greg's server. This is because Greg had given David Spragg special access to those since David is the club's webmaster. David is currently working on trying to get the club's board pull the date from a different location.
Once we gain access to the files for the Chipboard (Strikepoint and SlotCardBBS too), I'll have him to do the same for us on those other sites.
It does bother me that it seems that the sites are going down more frequently and the server is losing it's date. All of that gives me a signal that maybe the server in which the sites are being hosted needs replacing or the sites moved... This is something that unfortunately we'll have to consider here in the near term since the problems are happening more frequently.
Thanks again for your patience. I'm sorry that we've had so many problems lately but frankly I haven't been able to much of anything without access into the account or server. We are making progress on that front and hopefully soon we'll be able to stabilize the sites.
Once again I want to send special thanks to Carol for taking time for us the other day to help with these issues. Also thanks to David Spragg and Jim Follis for pitching in as well. THANK YOU very much!
Brian
