Lake Tahoe
Fred, depending on the weather and the Mt. Rose highway. The trip over the "hill" (Mt Rose Highway) to the North Shore is awesome in beauty and scenery. And with enough time you can do both by going up the west side of the lake, taking in Crystal Bay & Emerald Bay and ending up in South Lake Tahoe, allowing you to make a quick return to Reno via Carson City, & possibly a side trip up to Dayton/Virginia City...check the map out.
I do not know what is still open in North Shore but, you can check before leaving. Here is some of the casinos that were operating a few years ago: Hyatt, Jim Kelly's Nugget, Biltmore, Crystal Bay Club; in South Tahoe, Harvey's/Harrah's, Montbleu, Horizon(no table games I'm told); in Carson City, Carson Nugget, Casino Fandango, Carson Station, Gold Dust West, Dayton-Terribles, (Dayton Nugget?). I am probably overlooking a few, hope this helps...
