I would like to commend you on the GREAT job that you've done and continueing do.
I know and understand how much work goes into these conventions that people take for granted. When I was working for Apple Computer a few years back, I was delegated the task of organizing & setting up a convention for 350 attendees (for 3 separate years). Which included, inspecting the site beforehand, facilities (we needed one main room which would accomodate 350+ people, as well as 10 separate break out session rooms). The rooms all needed set up for computers, overheads, seating, white boards, and in some cases various AV equipment. Since it was off site, also had to coordinate travel, rooms and meals for all attendees, as well as daily evening entertainment. In addition, there was also the logistical issue of packing and shipping the necessary hardware and pre installation of software. (assuming that the shipments arrive on time). Then, when done, there was the tear town and packing and shipping...
People often take for granted the amount of work BEFORE and AFTER a convention. They show up when the convention starts and they leave when its over. For the organizers, I know what its like to have to arrive 2 days early and leave 1-2 days later. We used to book the facilities at least 1 year ahead of time. Very often, we do not get a response back for at least two or more weeks. These take time and effort.
Long story short, keep up the great work.
Joe
ps-when I have more time someday, remind me to post what it takes to do a show in a major convention in Las Vegas (ie-Consumer Electronic Show & COMDEX).
