I am glad Don that we can have this debate because I think the antique chips are not talked about enough and I think they are very important to the history of our hobby. The chip in the picture is a good example of what I am trying to say. The chip is called Star Border (I call it Box Border) it has both a standard mold made from a standard die, and hand engraved "C" monogram. The chip is circa 1880 and the Border is uniform from chip to chip and side to side. The "C" monogram on the other hand is hand engraved (I call it scrimshaw?) and it is not the same from side to side.
