Am I currently eligible to participate in this drawing and/or independently become a Life Member?
Not to parse words with your post or the Club's constitution, but after reading both I appear to currently qualify for both the drawing and Life Membership. May it please the court, my particular facts and circumstances :
I was a Club member in good standing from 2003-2006, thus completing 3 years of membership;
I got then busy with family and stuff, and let my membership lapse;
I re-joined again this year, and thus am currently a member in good standing (and will be at the time of the drawing).
From rule No. 1 in your post, I appear to have met both requirements to participate in the drawing. Further, from reading the constitution, I also appear to be currently eligible for life membership. To wit:
"E. Life Members: members in good standing age 25 or older who apply, after completion of their third full year of membership for permanent membership status, and whose applications are accompanied by payment according to the following schedule. Life Members are relieved from paying further annual dues, but must pay any magazine mailing charges above bulk mail if the Life Member desires such mailing enhancement;
Now I always supposed that Life Membership was limited to those members "who immediately apply, after completion of their third consecutive full year of membership for permanent membership status.... However, the wording of the constitution doesn't appear to be that restrictive. As such, from the wording as it reads I would seem to be currrently eligible for Life Membership (and ergo the drawing).
Not that I want to upset the apple cart (well, maybe just a little... ), but I would love to participate if I am eligible. Furthermore, if I don't win, then my entries are a donation, and my company will match them 100% (I have already done so this year with a previous MOGH donation). Thus, more funds into the club coffers.
Anyway, as I said, this might be a question for club Legal Counsel or the BOD to get a ruling. However, I'd love to join in the drawing if I can.
Look forward to hearing any thoughts/answers. Thanks for the consideration.
