That seems to be the general opinion regarding that error and Canon in particular. I loved that little camera, but as I said, I bought a Nikon D60, SLR Digital, recently, although it is a big camera it takes great pictures. Its just that at times you need a small camera like the Canon, which is the reason I am having it repaired. If its shot completely, I guess I will spring for another 7MP digital camera.
