Don, A few years ago just before the convention at the "old" Aladdin I asked one of our esteemed club officers, if he felt I would have a problem getting room keys from all of the casino hotels in Vegas. As I recall he responded by saying something like, "Ginsburg, you're crazy! No casino in their right mind would hand out room keys to just anybody that came along." He then talked about security at the hotel as a major issue. That year I managed to pick up room keys from every casino I visited except for the Excalibur. There I had to get a few from the bellman after tipping him a few chips. I guess the rest is history. When I was in Curacao & stayed at the Holiday Beach Hotel & Casino, they had regular metal room keys but they were attached to a 6 inch piece of plastic that weighed about a pound. It was well made up with the hotel logo embossed into the plastic holder. I asked the front desk if they had spares so I could take one home to add to my collection. The woman at the desk told me there wouldn't be a problem. She handed me my bill & the first item was a room key deposit of $30! OUCH. As you can guess, that one is not yet in my current collection.
