I designed the cover for this 4th edition and the 3rd edition and took the cover photographs and some inside. Have photographed every casino in Nevada. An the only one that knows where some still are.
( Front ) Old West Inn Wells 2005, James was standing next to me, it was very cloudy all day we were eating in the 4 way when the clouds finally broke and I made him stop eating and run to the truck so we could get there before the sun went down in 15 minutes. We had some adventures attempting to get chips from this place the year before so it was important to me to put it on the cover. I like this building and the similarly designed Nevada Hotel in Battle Mountain.
Commercial Elko. My idea to put the bear in the middle of the spine. 2006.
( Back) Franklin Hotel, Deadwood. One of Jamse's favorite places. A lot of work in the computer to get the building to look this way. Hard to shoot. Silverado is too close and in the way. 2006
I had the chips flowing across the front then continuing smoothly through the back. Editor changed the placement on the back for no reason and ruined the flow. Wasn't supposed to be a solid black cover either.
3rd Edition: ( Front ) Horsehoe, Biloxi at dusk 2002 Horseshoe ( Hammond Indiana 2002 ( back ). Benny Binion had just been murdered so I thought it was appropriate to use Horseshoe casino empire images as a tribute without being to obvious and using Vegas Horseshoe neon.
Chips on front were arranged like an horseshoe ( Steve's idea ) Editor changed the flow on this cover also for no reason and ruined that design a little. Also changed most of the font on both books.
Thanks for asking.
