I have been a die-hard USC fan since the age of 10 (I'm 40 now)....I DON'T EVER believe in starting true freshman quarterbacks. They are raw and unpolished; as they need to learn the "college" ropes b4 they can start and play effectively. Barkley MUST be the next "manchild" to live up to those expectations...

The last kid I recall having the same hype was Jimmy Clausen, and look what happened to him his first year...Granted, ND is no USC....BUT, he has since turned it around and has become very successful; considering his supporting cast......Barkley best QB ever at USC?? Nope, Leinart is. Heisman Trophy winner & 2 National Championships (Should have been 3, but his defense let him down in a 41-38 thriller vs. Texas in the "Game") It will be fun to see if he can surpass Leinart's stats...

Matt will do very well after some "seasoning", but a national title won't happen this year...Possibly not a BCS bowl game either......AND, that's coming from a USC fanatic. Their defense will be suspect, as well as Barkley's Td to Int ratio...!! AND AS MUCH AS I HATE TO SAY THIS, AND I WILL CATCH HEAT FROM THE TROJAN FAITHFUL, USC WILL GET THROTTLED AT OHIO STATE AND NIPPED AT SOUTH BEND. GOD, LORD PLEASE SAY I'M WRONG!!!!..............
