From my Webster's Dictionary:
FLOP:
As a noun; "A complete failure"
As a verb; "To fail completely"
Gee, I guess there is no sense in organizing another one, if this one has been such a dismal "failure" for all the hard work and effort that went into putting it on! <vbg>
Personally, I think that the 2000 convention was the "best ever" .... and I've been to all eight of them, serving as Convention Chair for the first few club shows.
As for the "Last Dance trade session" itself .... The first couple of conventions at the Aladdin didn't even have a "Last Dance". It was Mike Skelton, as Convention Chairman, who introduced that concept after some club members requested that a second trading session be held. Sometimes I think we lose sight of where we came from and don't appreciate what we have gained ... until after we lose it. Now for those who enjoy twisting my words, I'm not suggesting that this future trading activity be curtailed. It's up to those members who show up to support these activities who determine the activities' successes or failures.
"Flop"; if that was an accurate quote, was a very poor choice of word to describe this years' "monumental event". Thank you Wayne and Belinda for your dedication to make this 2000 convention a tremendous success. Looking forward to 2001 .... wherever it is held.....
