In a market-based economy, he goes out of his way to bash the market. First it was the banks/financial institutions. Every time he spoke the market dropped more. Now he is on the case of health-care providers and the pharmaceutical corps. You need these institutions to succedd, you don't need to paint them as the enemy. "Excessive" profits? What the hell is that? The promise of potential profit is the direct reason companies do research and invest/gamble money in it. Wreck the promise and you wreck the motivation. You take the risk, you are entitled to the reward.
I tried not to buy into the "Obama is a Socialist" rhetoric of the campaign. I gave him a fair shot. But I watch what he says and does very closely. He is either deliberately trying to wreck the system, or he has no idea what he is doing, and I dont believe that he has no idea what he is doing. The second stimulus, the auto bailout and now health care, all major taxpayer based financial undertakings, and all went forward (or are going forward) with very scrutiny of EXACTLY what is being done, and where the money is going. We get a vague outline, and a "trust me, I want to help you" line. From a guy who promised unfettered and full and open disclosure. I SMELL A RAT.
He is trying to overhaul the system. You can try that when you win an election by a 2-1 margin. That is a mandate. That means the country REALLY wants change. At 53-47, you don't have anywhere near the mandate to do what he is attempting, and people are catching on, AND THEY DON'T LIKE IT. That is why his numbers are in steady decline.
Yes, we can't go on doing business like we did. We need more oversight of financial institutions and health-care providers. We absolutely DON'T need to scrap the whole system. Small changes, see what works. Not this.
Now back to your regularly scheduled programming, lol.
