This research is "NOT" mine. Just Passing it along to all collectors of illegal casino chips.
A fellow club member sent it to me while researching another illegal chip from Collinsville.
Taylor records show about 26,000 CP chips was sent to Club Prevue in 1953.
Frank "Buster" Wortman, the gambling boss of East St. Louis and vicinity owned Club Prevue.
Buster owned and operated the handbooks for the area also. Other joints operated by Wortman in the area per Bobby Kennedy at a senate committee hearing in 1958, Terrace Lounge, Red Rooster, Club Prevue, Paddock, Empire Lounge, 7800 Club, RR Club, and the Junction T Club.
Per the 2 newspaper articles below Bobby missed one of Wortmans joints, The Ranch House Tavern. As you can see the CP chips were in use there in 1957. Cops got them again in 1959 at Club Prevue.
Hopefully the ST Louis library will reply with info on the other chip my friend was researching in the 1st place. We feel certain it tracks to Wortman
