I agree that manufacturers' artifacts and records provide a wealth of useful information for our hobby. I feel the Club has an interest is preserving these items, making the information generally available, and aggressively protecting the hobby from their malicious use. If they're offered as a contribution or at nominal cost then we should accept them and (at a minimum) provide for their safe storage. Perhaps the Club should actively contact such manufacturers and offer free packing, transport and storage of their old records. I also agree that the owner of such items can seek to sell them for as much as possible. My question is whether the Club should be bidding against other legitimate collectors of such items. I know Howard Herz has been active in obtaining, preserving, and cataloging this kind of stuff. Should we leave him alone, help him (ie: financially), or bid against him the next time?
