NCR BankNote of the Day...from Steven Kidd

On January 22, 1942 guerrilla officers and officials who had not yet surrendered to the Japanese formed a provisional government. On June 24, 1944 the Japanese landed at seven different places and took over the remaining strongholds. By the time the allies had freed the Philippines these notes had been extensively counterfeited, so much so that they were exempted from redemption. On close inspection, I believe these are not counterfeit because correct markings coincide with the date and serial numbers as well as quality of printing. THANK YOU Steven Kidd!

Commonwealth of The Philippines
1942 Series – Official Issue

25 Centavos

The markings on the back are not 'graffiti' but official stamps that coincide with signatures on the front. Different arrangements of the stamps were just some of anti-counterfeiting measures.
