Terrific thought-provoking post Marty!

Here's a suggestion that I've not heard anyone mention that may appease some who have stated their reluctance to sign on-board of this supposedly "done deal".

What are the feelings from those who support the purchase of these records ... and specifically those who have offered pledges of $100 or more to procure them... if the club would match 100% the amount raised through donations from individual club members or corporations,etc.?

Those who are "in the know" still have not publicly disclosed who the seller is of these records... which I think should be disclosed ... and I still don't think the club should be issuing a blank check to purchase these records.

However, if the seller realizes he/she does not have a blank check, that the club would only authorize the record purchase based on the matching grant up to the total of donated monies received from individuals, perhaps the purchase price may be a less severe. Would this suggestion be well received by those who have been reluctant up until now to support this endeavor? At least those who have the most to gain from the project would be substantially contributing towards their special interest.

I will be forwarding this bb post to the club officers, and to all the declared candidates, and will re-post on the club message board as well.
