The Ideal Candidate for all club offices.

Number One. The ideal candidate should first and foremost obviously be an avid and dedicated chip collector. He(she) should have good communicative skills, be diplomatic and available.

Ideally he should be retired so that he can devote the time to the hobby. If not retired, than either self-employed or with tenure in his job so that he could be right on top of things when questions/problems arrive.

He should be computer savvy. At least to the point that he has access to a PC, E-mail and is a constant reader AND PARTICIPANT of Greg's Bulletin Board. The electronic media is here to stay and anyone not attuned to that fact should not be running for an office in our club.

We presently have three excellent candidates running for president as well as more running for the other offices, but feel I must lend my support to Jim Reilly for the office of president. The reasons are many, but one of which is that Jim does read this board daily and responds to any question immediately afterwards. Aside from being a good friend, he does not let controversy go unanswered. I agree with all of his proposals except for the change in the grading system.

I believe the main order of business for the next slate of officers should be concentrated mainly on increasing the membership of our club to a respectable number. Contrary to what the present leadership thinks, 2,500 members are nothing to brag about after 10 years of existence. As a true Conservative, I am against any increase in taxes ( as it is involuntary) but am not opposed to an increase of dues. This increase in dues -—which I know will be highly contested if more than $5.00 or $10.00 even though I believe $50.00 to a $100.00 is more realistic--should be specifically earmarked for advertising for new members.
