If you will closely examine the two chips side by side ... you will note a few subtle differences. The re-issue chip (on the right) ... "Showboat" lettering is more yellow. The center inlay on the original $1 chip is very shiny ... the re-issue center inlay is a flat satin finish. Take a close look at just below the purple edge insert at the one o'clock position on the re-issue. Note the size of the "squiggly thing" in the yellow feather of the mask. It's much larger on the re-issue, Also, the purple color in the mask feathers are a brighter shade purple on the re-issue, and the words "mardi gras" appear to be much bolder on the re-issue, especially the green letters.
