My boss listed an expensive item on Craig's list several months ago and got an email similar to the one you received. He played along and received the certified (cashier's?) check in the mail (He gave them his work address, not home), which he turned over to the police...as I recall, they said they'd be turning it over to the FBI. The police confirmed that it was a scam.
