Thank you for posting this. This is one of those posts where I don't have to check Snopes to know it's true.

In the days after the 9/11 attacks, I was giving a guest lecture at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. My area of Detroit was proudly displaying flags on our homes, businesses, and cars. But in Ann Arbor, I saw very few flags - and I asked a few people why. I was floored when they told me that putting up a flag would make foreigners uncomfortable and that some would consider it to be "hate speech."

I am glad the people of Ann Arbor are outweighed by so many people who know that honoring those who fight terrorism (or those who were killed by it) hardly qualifies as hate speech.

I watched every second of the video. It helps restore my faith in my fellow Americans.
