It seems to me that hardly a month goes by that where we don't have a debate as to what are proper shipping charges.
The respondants to these questions always seem to be the same.
What is fair? I personally don't know, but I would say if a person thinks they are outrageous.... Don't but the item.
With no disrespesct to anyone,
Lets say a seller is providing a "New Chip Service" His profit is already insured by his subscriber list. The primary portion of his inventory is pre sold his costs are fixed shipping charges are built in.
Seller #2 Carries a huge inventory he has the cost of keeping this inventory not to mention all the other costs involved.
Seller #3 Deals in antique chips, He can not return his inventory to the casino for cash. He may have his money tied up for a long time.
Do each of the three examples have the same overhead? Do they need to make a profit in their business? Is it any worse to charge a little something more for your "time" than it is to build it into the price of the chip.
I do not sell chips on the internet, but I do own a business. Like any business person one has to recognize to stay in business you have to make a profit. When you consider the cost of posting on E-bay the time involved in processing the order, the postage, the shipping materials, the trek to the post office, bank fees and God knows what else, it almost seems the one would be better of in learning phrases such as " Sir, Would you like extra fries with that" instead of selling chips. How many dealers do you know that ride around in Rolls Royces as a result of the fortunes they made selling chips? My feeling is that if I can afford to periodically hit the tables in a casino and lose some bucks an extra dollar or two in shipping charges isn't going to break me if I want the item. I can always say NO.
