One needs to be a little older to enjoy this hobby. Earning a living and raising a family needs to come first. But sometime in your thirty's, you seem to have time for other things; like collecting. Your point about history is also right on. You need to be older to appreciate the history behind anything. A twenty-something knows nothing about history, because they are too young to have lived it. But if you were 20-25, playing Texas Holden in some of our present casinos, and now you are 35, and the casino is long gone, wouldn't it make you wonder what Casino X was all about? And what remains? Maybe a piece of clay that you once rolled through your fingers?
Chip collecting is preserving history. As we approach the infinite potential of Internet gambling, the land casinos that we know today may be vanishing, just like the brass cores from Harrah's tables. The study and preservation of gambling history through chips and other memorabilia, is what will sustain our club.
