Not sure if you guys heard about this yet because I haven't seen anyone make a post, but as of this past Wednesday (July 1st) at 12:01am the Tropicana Resort and Casino in Las Vegas emerged from bankruptcy and under new ownership, Tropicana Las Vegas Hotel and Resort, Inc. which is owned by Canadian investment firm Onex Corporation, the resort will be run by former MGM Grand, Inc./MGM Mirage CEO Alex Yemenidjian. Now it should prove interesting to see whether or not Tropicana will issue new chips and issue a redemption notice on the old chips.
By the way and maybe some closely associated with a Las Vegas casino can answer this question (Yes Gene I'm looking at you!), why is it whenever a new ownership of a casino takes place in Las Vegas or in Nevada in general it always occurs at 12:01am? Why not Midnight on the dot?
