I neeeeed that chip!
In Response To: Chip ID Toronto Taj Mahal. ()

Hi Tom,

If you are interested in selling the chip please email me. I will be leaving for the convention Thursday morning, so I won't be able to respond once I leave.

As for a little info, here you go. This chip dates from the late 1980's to very early 1990's. The charity casinos in Ontario could only operate in one location for a max of 3 days. The casino operator did not have a stake in the gaming win or loss. They charged a flat rate for the equipment and dealers. The charity benefited / loss from any win or loss. Keep in mind that the player lost the hand if the tied the dealer. You had to beat the dealer's hand to win.

In the beginning the table stakes were $1 min and $2 max. Later they were allowed to increase the maximums to $10. I got my start in the gaming business by working at one of these places.

I love trying to find chips from these very small places (usually operated with anywhere from 1 to 5 tables). I view them as Canada’s version of small town Nevada chips.

Cheers,

Frank
