I have had three lithotripsies. I passed one on my own that was 6mm. Except it got stuck. On its way out. So I had to perform surgery. Went in through the out door with a pair of tweezers. Fortunately, my best friend Mr. Oxycodone held my hand through that surgery.
My favorite kidney stone experience (and by favorite I mean the worst ever) was going to the emergency room in severe pain. After explaining where the pain was, the emergency room quack, er, doctor, asked me how many sexual partners I had, and was actually convinced I had an STD!! So after four hours of me lying on a cot howling in unbearable pain, he reluctantly sent me to get an MRI. 30 minutes later, he sheepishly came back and said I wasn't passing a kidney stone, but I was passing FOUR!! Even then he was wrong. A few days later, SIX came flying out!!
I have ten stones currently waiting to pass. Seven in one kidney, and three in the other. Hopefully, my urologist Dr. Steve Miller (can't make this stuff up people) will decide to clean out both kidneys. First time he came in the room I tried a little Steve Miller kidney stone humor. Hey doc, I got a Rock-in-me Baby! Nothing. I'm just hopeful he doesn't Take The Money and Run!! I'm wanting to make my kidney stone go away Abracadabra!!
I bet you're all hoping I don't bring this kind of humor with me to Splashbar, huh!
Anyway Todd, literally, I feel your pain. Demand lots of drugs, always keep them around in case of the next stone attack. Also, ask your doctor to call the emergency room and have them put you on a list of people who get the good drugs the very second you walk in the door! That way, they know from your doctor's orders you are a kidney stone passer, and not some junkie looking for your next fix. Then the second you walk in the door, they see the order flashing in big red letters, and immediately start pumping you full of morphine.
Good luck Todd. Now can share war stories. Kinda like Jaws!!
