It takes a lot for a man to say he's sorry. I appreciate that you have.
Something I learned the hard way when I was nine...Once something is said, whether verbally or written, it can't be taken back no matter how hard one tries. The words hang in the air or stay on the paper forever. Watch what you say and don't say it if you don't mean it. The words one speaks or writes might be the last words another person hears or sees.
