ATLANTIC CITY--No new bids for the Tropicana Casino and Resort have been submitted by the 5 p.m. deadline for such offers.
But a lawyer involved in the bankruptcy court auction says an after-hours offer from a potential purchaser might still materialize. It was not immediately clear whether such an offer could be accepted.
Sean Mack, an attorney for the conservator tasked with selling the Tropicana, says no offers beat the 5 p.m. Friday deadline. But
he says he has spoken throughout the day with a potential purchaser who may still make a late bid.
A group including billionaire investor Carl Icahn was widely seen as the favorite to win the Tropicana because it has offered $200 million of the debt it bought, at a steep discount, in exchange for the casino.
