50th Anniversary of the Desert Inn was April 23, 2000. On April 27, 2000, Steve Wynn bought the DI and closed it forever on August 28, 2000. I'm pretty sure when they took this photo, they weren't planning on it being a photo of the end of the Desert Inn, but that appears what it turned out to be. I am not aware of another photo like this being taken on or before the closing.
