Quick Quads is a lot of fun, but the requirement to play 6 coins per hand instead of 5 is a big hurdle to overcome. I did not do well playing the QQ machines at Southpoint a couple of months ago. You have to hit a LOT of quick quads when playing a 6 coin machine against a 5 coin paytable. But it's fun to hear the machine voice say "QUICK QUADS" from time to time! These are multi line machines, so if you're dealt a QQ, it stutters out the message [g].
Just a comment about royal flushes... it would be foolish to play VP without a strategy, but in reality, it will NOT increase the number of royal flushes you get. In fact, it decreases the number of royals slightly. What strategy is designed to do is keep you (and your bankroll) alive long enough to hit the big payoffs in the game. For example, you often ignore three cards to a royal flush and keep a fourth suited card, hoping for a flush. This occurs most often in the "Bonus" games. Only playing lots of games in a year and having good luck will increase your royals/year count. I've had up to 8 in a year, and have gone for more than a year with none, with about the same amount of play.
