Gene & Andy; I too purchased one of the "first issue Thunderbird $5 chips" at the convention from Rene at the reasonable price of $25. I too am not 100% certain of the Las Vegas attribution, as one of the TCR authors was not sure either. However, I've brought to Michael Knapp's, Doc Myers' and Ernie Wheelden's attention, the designs on the Thunderbird ashtrays from Las Vegas that are remarkably close to the design on the newly discovered "hoard" of Thunderbird chips. Two of the three TCR authors felt that this chip is indeed from Las Vegas... and the third one did not refute it when pressed at the "Ask The Master's Forum" held during the convention. For those of you who own a copy of Art Anderson's, "Casinos And Their Ashtrays" ... I invite you to look at page 193 and let the interested bb readers know your thoughts.
