DUH is associated with the vocabulary of a moron. If the word DUH starts a reply, the message being conveyed is that that statement being responded to is so simplistic and obvious to people of normal intelligence that a moronic response is the only appropriate one.

Example: Statement--It was hot in Vegas. Reply--DUH, no kidding.
