Re: I don't know! sad That's the...

problem.... (sigh....)

The Four Queens arrowdie has to stay. I've always loved that chip...a classic mold, the logo on the inlay is perfect for the name of the casino. When I first saw that chip, I thought it was beautiful, but one that I thought we'd never have in our collection because it was kind of "high-end". A couple of years later we were at an antique/flea market and spotted an 8x10 frame filled with chips...a few were .50, most were $1, chips totalled $28.50 face. I think the sticker said $75 or so. The only chip that I recognized as "valuable" was the 4Q arrowdie...but I couldn't remember what it listed for...just that it was higher priced than most of the chips we had (which probably meant $50 or more vbg It was early in our collecting days!) I told my hubby that we needed to buy it. He talked the seller down a little, and we bought it. Turns out that the arrowdie was 2nd or 3rd most "valuable" chip in the frame...top honors went to the $1 Lady Luck. But I love the 4Q more. grin

The El Capitan large crown roulette has to stay. We bought a keychain "lot" on ebay...that was one of the chips in the lot. As far as I know, it's the only one that exists. I love one-of-a-kind stuff (especially when it's ours! vbg ).

The Las Vegas Club die-cut has to stay. I wish it was our chip...it's not, but I love the die cut inlay chips, that's probably my favorite inlay style. I love the Las Vegas Club, and I love large crown chips.

The other seven chips...well, they're pretty! grin

I wish the Showboat chip was ours...I love the story behind it, it's like a modern-day fairy tale grin ! Lady saves the chip as a souvenir of her honeymoon, sells it on ebay 47 years later for an incredible price.

The Town Tavern chip...A very classy design on a chip from the Westside, the "wrong side of the tracks".

The Flamingo, Tropicana and Sands...great logos on chips from some of the earliest strip hotels.

The Golden Gate...I love the downtown stuff more than the strip, and I think the trolley car was a great logo from the Gate, and I really like scalloped inlays.

I guess, by the process of elimination, the one to eliminate would be the Stardust. sad I hate to see it go, but it isn't our chip and doesn't have a story (that I know of). One of these days I hope we'll get that chip...but I love our Pioneer chip more. grin Thanks for trading it out.

As for the Pioneer chip, it was a hot and humid day...the temperature and humidity were both in (or near) the 90's. We were at an antique/flea market and found a cigar box with chips in it. Most were generic poker chips, but my hubby found a chip that said "Pioneer Club". I was getting a headache from the heat and was getting very cranky. My monolog went something like "How do you know it's Vegas? It doesn't say Vegas. There were probably other Pioneer Clubs. It probably wasn't even from Nevada...." The seller, of course, said the chip was from Las Vegas. He'd picked up the box of chips from a sale, and was told that a group of elderly ladies used the chips for poker games. My hubby ignored me and bought the chip ( vbg smart man!). When we got back to the car I pulled out the C&W and saw the picture that James had for the first issue chips...!!! He didn't have the $1 chip listed, but the font and the mold matched...holy cow! vbg Gotta' love it! grin
