Unfortunately I am the one who has to enforce the no selling rules for the swap session. The reasoning is that we have 90 dealers occupying 109 tables in the showroom. If I let one dealer sell books how can I stop another dealer from selling any other item? The swap session is made possible by the dealers who pay the table fees. If all the dealers brought just two boxes of books or other merchandise the 40 tables at the reception would soon be totally full by the dealers.
The swap session is for the members to swap merchandise and socialize. No one has a problem with members buying, selling, or trading what they can carry. We just ask the dealers not to use the session as an extension of the show floor. They certainly can trade chips as all other members do. The dealers in the case of the swap session are making a sacrifice for the benefit of the other members.
Hopefully this explains the Club's position.
