I like the covers as they are easier to store and less of a fire hazard. My general rule is this. If even one match is missing I remove them all. I also have many duplicates so on some where I may have placed the cover in my binder I may still have another full book elsewhere. With newer matchbooks where I have many I will remove the mathces from one to put in my binder.
As for shipping matchebooks I send them in bubble mailers and have never had any problems. Maybe I shouldn't have said that. I like Jim's idea of wrapping them in foil and will start doing that as well. But Jim, don't foil burn as well.
