- The people who primarily were responsible with the problems have already been let go.
- These retention bonuses were offered (before his Tenure at AIG) to people identified as essential and needed to stay on board with the company to help them wind their business down.
- If you take these bonuses away and these people were to all quit today, then AIG would collapse and we the taxpayers wouldn't get any of our money back.
- These bonuses are essentially monies promised for getting a job done.
How you would like it if your company reneged on a contract with you and decided not to pay you after you completed the work?
That subcommitte racked Liddy over the coals and treated him like this was all his fault. This man was hired after the fact to break this company up and get our bailout money back. And he's doing it for $1.00 total in salary. He was asked the same questions over and over by each subcommitte member as if they weren't listening to his previous responses. It's obvious to me they were trying to get face time on TV as if they were "standing up" for us. If I was him, I would have stood up and said stick it and moved on with my life instead of being treated that way.
It's a little scary the direction that our government is going and behaving... We all should be careful what we're wishing for....
