I stopped by the Colorado Belle in Laughlin late yesterday. This was my first time there since the property (and it's sister property the Edgewater) had been sold by MGM/Mirage. I guess that happened in 2005 (or so) so it certainly has been a long time.

One of the hallmarks of the Colorado Belle was that they devoted a rather large, wall mounted display case to all of their past Limited Edition chips. The display was right next to the Main Cage and when I went to look at recent issues, the entire display case was gone! I asked at the cage what happened to it and I was told that the chips were destroyed, ALL of them!!

I asked if they meant the chips from the display and the answer was, not only those, but all of the past Limited Edition (commemorative) chips that used to be on the tables and in the cage. ALL of them are gone. While they have NOT done a redemption notice on the chips (and they will be honored for cash-in) but if turned in, they get destroyed!

I walked around to the table games and right away you could see that there were no LE's in the dealer racks. Only the older Bud Jones CIC issues (and the more recent Bud Jones, foil CIC $1 chips).

Today I called the Edgewater and asked what their policy was on past LE's. It was the same answer. They are valid for turn-in, but will be destroyed and that there are no LE's out on the tables. However, they just had a turn-in of about 150 LE's and if I was in the neighborhood, I could stop by and get them. (I'm not in the neighborhood.)

If this is old news, I apologize. I imagine this will have an impact on Colorado Belle and Edgewater LE values.
