As I posted last week, we put off making plans for our rooms (until we were sure we could make it!). I really do like staying in the same Hotel as the convention. This makes it easier with a non-chipping wife. Also, when the Tropicana was announced as the host Hotel for the convention last year.. members were asked to stay at the Trop for the benefit of the club. So late last week I set out to make my reservations at the Trop. I thught maybe I would be quoted the Convention Room rate if I requested it. ($45/$85). I was told that block was sold out. So I was thinking great! it will be a fantastic Convention! They said that the Garden Rooms at the Trop were available for $49/$109. I was a little miffed at the weekend price, but didn't say anything. BUT... I was then told that tower rooms were available "with the rest of the chippers" for an additional $10 per night. NOW... I was not a happy camper. I replied "So in other words The CC>CC members have already purchased their specified number of rooms, and you still have rooms available, but you want to charge a higher price?". My sence of Loyalty to the host Hotel is fading fast, they don't seem to want me very bad. So I said to myself... "OK, a Garden Room at the Trop, or a suite at the Rio for less money????" What a decision! However, I compromised... I am staying at the Trop on Wed & Thurs, and staying at the Rio on Friday & Saturday. My thanks to the Tropicana! We love the Rio, and they made it easy for us to make the decision to stay there a coouple nights! Hope to see everyone at the convention!
