Ed, as a coin collector all my life I have always gotten .50 cent Kennedy pieces and $2 bills from my local bank. For a few years now I have given both to the local young kids when they help me with a job around the home front here. I have heard from some of the parents that they save the money I give them. They are different so they keep the money. Sort of helping the kids save some money. This Wednesday I will be picking up my order of $500 in half dollars that I ordered from my bank. My grand kids know all about money. Though at this time the squish (elongate) it to make elongated pennies from different machines.
